East Village Bakery
Date Visited: June 2nd 2012
Address: 2166 East Hastings St. Vancouver, BC V5L1V2
Type of Restaurant: Bakery
Price Range: $-$$
Background: It’s run by an Asian couple. They offer vegan pastries. Also they have won awards for their pastries.
Ambiance (out of five): 4/5 – The woman who served me (who I am assuming is the person in charge of the baking) greeted me warmly and didn’t rush me to place an order. I have problem choosing so I stood there for a pretty long time. It’s a small little bakery and they offer different varieties of pastries.
Setting/Design: The design is quant and is small but offers enough space for at least 5 people to be inside while still being comfortable. It gives off a relaxed and home feeling.
Recommended: This is my second time here and I didn’t have much this time around but last time I had a few pastries which were all very good. Last time I tried the chocolate cake, the butterfly and a few other things that I can’t remember off the top of my head. I heard about this bakery through the newspaper.
Overall: 8.5 (Good-Wow!) /10. I like the products that they make. You can tell they use good quality ingredients and put their heart into making these delicious morsels.
(1-4: will never come back, 5: pass (I’m okay with a tinier morsel), 6: acceptable, 7: okay, 8: good, 9: Wow! Please enlarge my morsel. 10: Perfection. I could eat a morsel of this every day!)
Will come back? Definitely!
What I ate:
This time around I only ate a scone because I was just dropping by for a quick snack.
I think it was a cheese and chive scone. I sorta forgot because it’s been awhile. I should probably keep up on my blogging so I remember these things or at least write them down. Anyways….
Although it wasn’t warm the crust was still crispy which I enjoyed
The inside was light and fluffy
But I could taste a hint of baking soda flavour aftertaste
Overall it had a good flavour to it and the texture was good although I do wish they could have heated it up for me
